Why devotees come here
Bheswamata Temple is a pilgrimage to Mata Bijasan in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh. Devotees believe she takes away the sorrows of those who come to her, and the fairs draw pilgrims from far and wide.
Mata Bijasan, also called Bhainswa Mata, is worshipped at this hilltop shrine. Devotees believe she has been taking away the sorrows of her devotees since she emerged from the earth. The legend begins with Lakha Banjara, a tribal chief, and his unmarried daughter.
Legend says the Maharaja of Dewas state tried to build a temple here with a silver spade and mattocks. Work on the new temple started in 1968, with Maa's blessings.
The temple stands tall on the top of the mountain in Rajgarh district, where the great Mata sits. Devotees come here from far and wide to fulfil their vows. The temple's own website calls it a world famous pilgrimage site to Mata Bijasan. On the ninth day of Navratri, the ride begins with the help of Pandaji.
