Why devotees come here
ISKCON Bhubaneswar is a temple to Krishna and Balaram in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar, Khordha district, Odisha. Work to set it up began in 1977, on the instruction of Srila Prabhupada. Its own site centres its devotion on Krishna, with kirtan and community activities.
The temple's own site offers a Pusya Abhishek of Krishna and Balaram. It describes its devotion as centred on Krishna. The site invites devotees to grand festivals that glorify Krishna and bring them together in devotion and joy. It also lists kirtan and community activities as part of the temple's programme.
Nayapalli is one of the areas, mostly north of National Highway 5, that the Bhubaneswar Development Authority developed to house the city's growing population. Work to set up an ISKCON temple in Bhubaneswar began in 1977, on the instruction of Srila Prabhupada.
Bhubaneswar has an older temple history too. The Somavamshi or Keshari dynasty established a kingdom in the 7th century and built a number of temples in the city.
