Why devotees come here
Kalyana Venkateswara Temple in Narayanavanam town, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, is dedicated to Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu. It is one of the few temples where Venkateswara and Padmavathi are seen together in one complex. Local tradition ties the site to their wedding.
Tradition holds that Venkateswara married his consort Padmavathi at this place and then moved to Tirumala. The district tourism page says Padmavathi was the daughter of Akasha Raju and that the couple were married here. Local legend also calls Narayanavanam the capital of King Akasaraja, who ruled this region.
The town is known for this temple. The temple was established in 1541 AD and was extended in later times. The district page says Padmavathi's brother built two temples, one here and one in Tirumala, to mark the wedding. Inside the complex are four small shrines, for Padmavathi, Andal, Prayaga Madhava and Varadaraja, and a small Garudalwar shrine at the entrance.
Five more temples in the complex are dedicated to Parasareswara, Veerabadhra, Sakthi Vinayaka, Agatheeswara and Avanakshamma. Few temples let you see Venkateswara and Padmavathi together in one complex, and this is one of them.
