Why devotees come here
Shree Mangal Graha Mandir stands in Amalner, a city on the banks of the Bori River in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra. It is described as one of the most ancient and rare temples in India. Devotees believe its deity is self-manifested.
Devotees believe the deity of Shree Mangal Graha Mandir is swayambhoo, meaning self-manifested. The district site also calls it Shri Mangal Dev Temple. The temple is dedicated to Mangal Graha. Devotees regard him as the son of Bhumi Mata. Worship of him is believed to bring blessings in all matters connected with the earth. The main idol holds a gada (mace), a trishul (trident), a damru (a small drum) and a lotus flower.
A Panchmukhi Hanuman, carved from black stone, stands to the right of the main idol. On the left is an idol of Bhumi Mata, cut from the same ebony stone. A Shivling of Mangaleshwar (Shiva) also stands in the vicinity of the temple.
Some believe the temple was first renovated in 1933, and a renovation after 1999 transformed it and its surroundings. The architecture is richly decorated in pinks, greens, reds and yellows.
