Why devotees come here
The Mopidevi Subrahmanyeswara Temple is a Hindu shrine in the village of Mopidevi, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. It is dedicated to Subrahmanyeswara Swamy, a form of Subramanya. It is widely known for the Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Pooja, which pilgrims perform to seek relief from delays and obstacles they link to serpents.
The temple is best known for the Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Pooja. Pilgrims who face delays in marriage, health problems, childlessness or other obstacles believe these come from serpent-related planetary positions, and they come here to perform the rite. Devotees from across Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring states visit for darshan of the principal deity.
Local tradition says Subramanya did penance at this site in the form of a serpent. That belief gives the temple its enduring spiritual importance. The origin of the shrine is linked to a devout woman, Veeravaru Parvatha Lakshmi, who is said to have had a divine vision of the deity emerging from the earth.
Mopidevi is a village in Krishna district and the headquarters of Mopidevi mandal. The village is reached from the national highway that runs between Vijayawada and Avanigadda.
