Nanda Devi Temple is dedicated to Nanda Devi, a form of Durga, who is worshipped as both fierce and protective. The temple is in the heart of Almora city, in the Kumaun region of eastern Uttarakhand. The tourism page calls the shrine millennia-old and links it to the legacy of the Chand dynasty. A stone Amalaka crown sits on top of the structure, under a wooden roof, and intricate carvings decorate the walls. Usually in September, the Nanda Devi Fair brings rituals and drumming to the temple.
