Why devotees come here
The Krishna Janmasthan at Mathura, in Uttar Pradesh, is where devotees believe Krishna appeared in Kansa's prison house. A temple of Astabhuja Maa Yogmaya stands beside the entrance of that prison cell. Mathura itself is known as Krishnanagri, the city of Krishna.
Devotees believe Shri Krishna manifested himself in the prison house of the cruel king Kansa. From that same prison he set free his father Vasudeva and his mother Devaki. The Krishna Janmasthan at Mathura marks this place.
Beside the entrance to the prison cell stands a temple where Astabhuja Maa Yogmaya is believed to have manifested. The shrine is adjacent to the entrance of the prison cell, and both stand at the Krishna Janmasthan.
The temple's message also draws on the Bhagavata Gita. The page says Krishna gave mankind thought-provoking ideas in that scripture. Mathura is in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. The town is known as Krishnanagri, the city of Krishna. Regular trains and buses connect it with other major cities of the country.
