Why darshan at home suits many parents
Many parents still want to go to the temple, but the trip has become hard. Long queues, stairs, crowds and overnight journeys add up. Some are far from the temples they grew up with. Some simply do not want to trouble their children for a trip.
A VR box does not replace a visit. It gives them something close to it, on any day, from their own chair. They can watch the morning aarti at Shirdi, then call you and tell you about it.
It is also a gift that lasts beyond the festival. A box of sweets is gone in a week. Darshan at home can become part of every morning.
What they will see in the app
The Divya Darshan 360 app has 155 darshan videos from 56 temples. 80 of them are 360° videos made for the VR box. These are good ones to start with.
- Mahalakshmi Temple Kolhapur. Begin Diwali here with Mahalakshmi Temple Aarti (Evening) or Mahalakshmi Temple: Abhishek Ceremony. This temple of Devi Mahalakshmi counts Lakshmi Puja and Diwali among its festivals. Read our Kolhapur guide.
- Shirdi Sai Baba Temple. Kakad Aarti at Shirdi Sai Baba is the early morning aarti. Madhyan Aarti of Sai Baba in Shirdi is the midday one. Read our Shirdi guide.
- Somnath Temple. Aarti at Somnath Temple and Somnath Temple 360 Tour. Somnath, on the Gujarat coast at Prabhas Patan, is counted first among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva.
- Tulja Bhavani Temple Tuljapur. Tulja Bhavani Aarti (360). The temple stands on Yamunachala hill in Dharashiv district, Maharashtra, and is counted among the Shakti Peethas.
- Ashtavinayak temples. Mayureshwar Temple, Morgaon, Aarti at Siddhatek Siddhivinayak and Darshan at Theur Chintamani Temple. Morgaon is traditionally the first stop on the yatra to these eight temples of Shri Ganesha around Pune. Read our Ashtavinayak guide.
- Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga Temple. Bhimashankar Aarti in 360, from the Jyotirlinga on a mountain in Pune district, about 110 km from Pune.
Every video is recorded at the temple. Your parents can watch the morning aarti at night, or the same darshan as many times as they like. The app also has daily aarti videos and darshan reminders.
How simple it is to use
The box needs no setup. It is light and padded. Using it takes four steps.
- Open the Divya Darshan 360 app on the phone.
- Choose a 360° (VR) video.
- Put the phone in the VR box.
- Hold the box to the eyes and turn the head slowly. The temple is all around.
If your parents can play a video on their phone, they can manage this. Show them once, then let them try it while you watch.
What to set up before you gift it
Do this before Diwali, on a visit or over a video call. It saves a confusing first evening.
- Check the phone. The app runs on Android only. There is no iPhone app. The box holds most phones with a 4.7 to 6.5 inch screen, so check the screen size of their phone.
- Install the app. Divya Darshan 360 is free on Google Play. Install it on their phone and open it once.
- Pick their language. The app works in English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati.
- Check the internet. The videos need 4G or Wi-Fi to play. Make sure their data pack or home Wi-Fi is working.
- Watch one video together. Sit with them for the first darshan. Show them how to take the phone out and pick the next video.
Order in time for Diwali
Dhanteras is on Friday, 6 November 2026, and Lakshmi Puja is on Sunday, 8 November. To be safe, order by 27 October. Earlier is better.
The VR box ships in 2 to 3 business days. Delivery then takes 3 to 5 business days. These times are estimates, not promises, so leave a few spare days. Delivery is free in India, so you can send it straight to your parents' address even if you are in another city.
The box costs ₹699 if you pay online, or ₹749 with cash on delivery. If it has a manufacturing defect, there is a 7-day replacement. You can order it on our VR box page.
Is it right for your parents?
A gift should fit the person. Check these points before you buy.
- They need an Android phone. The app does not run on an iPhone.
- They need internet. 4G or Wi-Fi, every time they watch.
- VR can feel strange at first. Some people feel dizzy in VR in the beginning. Ask them to sit down, start with one short video, and take the box off if they feel uneasy.
- Not every video needs the box. Many videos in the app are regular videos that play on the phone screen. If VR is not for them, they can still have darshan every day.
If your parents cannot travel at all, our page on darshan for parents who cannot travel has more tips for older users. For how VR darshan works in general, see VR darshan at home.
