Bharatbhari Temple is dedicated to Shiva and stands beside a pond of about 16 bigha. The pond lies in front of the temple, and the High Court has declared it to be in Shiva's name. Legend says that while the Pandavas were passing through Aardravan during their exile, Krishna came through Bharat Bhari village to meet them.
Local tradition says Bharat, son of King Dushyant, made Bharat Bhari his capital. The archaeology department has listed the site as a historic site of the Kushan period.
Shrines of Hanuman, Ram-Janaki and Durga stand on the banks of the pond, alongside the Shiva temple. A large fair runs for about a week on Kartik Purnima, and lakhs of visitors take part in it. Fairs are also held here on Chaitram Navami and Shivratri. The temple is about 5 km from Domariyaganj and about 210 km from Lucknow.
