Why devotees come here
Bhavishya Badri is at Subain, about 17 km from Joshimath in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. Its name means the Badrinath of the future. Local belief says Badrinath will reappear here when the withering arm of the Narasingha idol at Joshimath falls off.
The name Bhavishya Badri means the Badrinath of the future. The temple is at Subain, about 17 km from Joshimath, to the east toward Lata. It stands at 2744 metres inside dense forest, beyond Tapovan and up the Dhauliganga river.
Local belief links the temple to the future of Badrinath. The withering arm of the Narasingha idol at Joshimath is expected to fall off one day. When it does, Badrinath will reappear at Bhavishya Badri.
A second belief says that after Kalki ends Kalyug, the present age, Badrinath Dham will be re-established at this temple. The route runs from Joshimath by motor road to Saldhar, 19 km away. The last stretch is a track of about 3 km from the motor road, up the Dhauliganga river. From Saldhar the temple is a 6 km trek on foot.
