Why devotees come here
Charbhuja Temple stands in Garhbor village, in the Kumbhalgarh tehsil of Rajsamand district, Rajasthan. It is a centre of Vaishnava faith, and its idol is the four-armed form of Vishnu.
Charbhuja Ji is the principal deity here, worshipped as the four-armed form of Vishnu. The idol is 85 cm high, and its four arms hold a conch, a discus, a mace and a lotus. The temple is a centre of Vaishnava faith and devotion. Legend says the Pandavas worshipped the idol in ancient times, and that it was once submerged in water for safety.
Gang Dev received divine instructions in a dream to install the idol. As many as 125 battles were fought over the centuries to protect it. The temple has a high shikhar, and the highest one stands over the sanctum.
The original temple has fine mirror work on its shutters. A statue of Garud stands in the other courtyard. A big fair is held in the bright half of Bhadrapada, and Holi, Navaratras, Janamashtami and Ramanavami are also celebrated here. On the nights of Navaratras, Gharava dance is performed.
