Why devotees come here
Parshuram Mahadev Cave Temple is a Shiva temple inside a cave on the border of Pali and Rajsamand districts in Rajasthan. The cave sits in the foothills of the Aravalis, and it is also known as the Amarnath temple of Rajasthan. The temple is 14 km from Sadri and 160 km from Jodhpur.
Parshuram Mahadev is a cave temple dedicated to Shiva. Legend says Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Vishnu, made the cave with his axe and worshipped Shiva here. Inside the cave, he is said to have performed rigorous penance for many years for Shiva.
The cave lies in the foothills of the Aravalis mountain range and is about 3,995 feet above sea level. Naturally formed figures of Ganesh and Shiva are inside, along with nine kunds that never go dry. The surprising thing is that the entire cave remains in the same rock.
The Sadri side is the easier approach, with about 500 stairs leading up to the ancient cave. From Kumbhalgarh, Rajsamand, Nathdwara or Udaipur, the walk starts at a parking place and goes downhill to the temple. The cave is also known as the Amarnath temple of Rajasthan.
