Why devotees come here
Chechaka Dham, also called Chechakeshwar Dham, is a Shiva temple in Kumhari village, Ghas block, Bokaro district, Jharkhand. Devotees regard the temple as self-manifested (swayambhu), and the place is known as a major religious site of the district.
Chechaka Dham is known as a major religious site of Bokaro district. It is a Shiva temple, also called Chechakeshwar Dham and Mini Baba Dham because Shiva is worshipped here. Legend says Shiva appeared here himself and accepted the worship of devotees. The lingam is divided into three parts, which stand for Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara.
The name Chechka is said to come from a small village nearby, where sages once kept an ashram and did penance. A footprint of Vishnu is on a rock here, and local belief holds that Vishnu came to this place.
Just below the Vishnu shrine, an inscription is written in a script that has not yet been read. The Damodar river flows near the temple, and its sound adds to the setting.
