Chintaman Ganesh is described as the biggest temple of Ganesha in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Devotees know Ganesha here as Chintaman, the one who eases all worries, and his consorts Riddhi and Siddhi stand beside him. The idol is believed to be self-manifested, or swayambhu. Tradition holds that the original temple dates back to the Ramayana age and was established by Sita.
The temple dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries, when the Paramara rulers governed Malwa. The assembly hall has finely carved stone pillars that date from the Paramara period, and the shrine is white.
The temple is built across the Kshipra river, on the Fatehabad railway line. Today it stands in the middle of the town's market, south-west of Ujjain town.
