Garjiya Devi Temple is a sacred Shakti shrine, a Hindu temple dedicated to Devi. Devotees believe Garjiya is a reincarnation of Parvati. The temple lies in Garjiya village, about 14 km north of Ramnagar, on the outskirts of Corbett National Park.
The temple is perched on a large mountain rock about 60 feet above the ground, in the Kosi river. The first priest, Pt. Keshav Dutt Pandey, began the worship of Devi Girija here. The temple also has a 9th-century statue of Lakshmi Narayan, made from black granite.
Ramnagar, the nearby town, sits at the foothills of the Himalayas on the bank of the Kosi river. It is one of the important places in Nainital district and a gateway to Corbett National Park. The park's safaris run from October to May, the same season that suits a visit to the temple.
