Why devotees come here
Gogaji Temple in Gogamedi, Hanumangarh district, Rajasthan, is one of the most prominent and ancient temples dedicated to Gogaji, a folk deity and warrior saint of the state. Pilgrims from many states come for the yearly Bhadrapada fair.
Gogaji, also called Jaharveer Gogaji, is revered across Rajasthan as a folk deity and warrior saint. Devotees believe he protects people from snakebites and blesses his devotees with strength and justice. Legend says he was born around Vikram Samvat 1003 in Dadrewa village in Churu district, to King Jevar Singh and Queen Bachchal Devi. He was a Chauhan Rajput and the chief disciple of Guru Gorakhnath, and he became known as a protector of the people.
The present structure was rebuilt in white marble on 26 June 1911, under Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner. The Rajasthan government carried out major renovation works from 2016 to 2019, improving facilities while keeping the temple's character. The building blends traditional and Indo-Islamic styles.
Carved work includes the samadhi and the murti, along with panels by the artists Narsi Pande and Bhajju Kotwal.
