Kundalpur is a pilgrimage site for Digambar Jains. The last Kevali, Shridhar Kevali, is said to have attained salvation at this place. The main statue on the hill is Rishabhanatha, called Bade Baba or Adinath.
The original Bade Baba temple is estimated to date from the 6th century CE, and it was the oldest temple at Kundalpur. An inscription says the temple was renovated by disciples of Bhattaraka Surendrakirti, with help from the Bundela ruler Chhatrasal.
The statue sits in the lotus position, 15 feet tall, on a 3-foot pedestal. Parshvanatha images of the same height flank it on both sides. Another temple, the Jal Mandir, stands in the middle of the Vardhamana pond at the foot of the hill. In 1884, Alexander Cunningham counted 20 temples on the hill and 30 at the foot near the pond.
