Why devotees come here
The Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple stands in Vadapalli, a village in Nalgonda district near Miryalaguda, and the district site calls it famous and ancient. The presiding deity is Narasimha, the form in which Vishnu appeared as a lion. The district lists it among the Pancha Narasimha Kshetras on the banks of the Krishna.
Legend says the sage Vyasa meditated at the meeting point of the Krishna and Musi rivers, asking Narasimha to appear there. Vishnu then appeared there as a lion, in the form of Narasimha, and the temple honours him in that form.
The village has two major temples. The other is the Sri Meenakshi Agasteswara Swami temple, and the Narasimha shrine stands close to it. Both were constructed in the 12th century by the Reddy Kings. The Narasimha temple is counted as the first of the pancha kshethrams, the five sacred Narasimha sites on the Krishna.
The village was formerly known as Vazeerabad, and its name is also spelt Wadapally. The two spellings refer to the same village, so both appear in records and on maps.
