Why devotees come here
Maa Kalehi Devi Temple stands on the bank of the Patne river, about two kilometres from Pawai town in Panna district, Madhya Pradesh. Panna district lists it among its historic, natural and religious places. A large fair is held here during Chaitra Navratri.
Panna district lists Maa Kalehi Devi Temple under three heads: historic, natural or scenic beauty, and religious. It is also described as a natural and divine temple.
The temple sits on the bank of the Patne river, about two kilometres from Pawai town. Pawai lies on the road that links Panna with Katni, and daily buses in the town connect it to nearby places. Chandi Falls, a natural waterfall, is in Pawai itself. A major road also links Pawai with Saleha, Nagod and Satna.
The main gathering here is the large fair held during Chaitra Navratri. The district's own page calls it a huge fair and says it is about five hundred years old. The district's website lists the temple as a tourist place in its own right.
