Prannath Ji Temple is a significant pilgrimage for Pranamis, who come to it during Sharad Purnima. Legend says Mahamati Prannathji lived in Panna for 11 years and then took samadhi in one of the temple's domes. Swami Prannathji is also recorded as having taken samadhi at this temple.
The temple was built in 1692 and mixes Muslim and Hindu architectural styles in its domes and lotus formations. Shri Gummatji is the main building, a circular structure with nine marble domes. The complex is divided into six parts. Besides Shri Gummatji, the others are the Bangalaji, Sadguru, Baijurajji, Chopada and Khijada shrines. Eight of the domes stand for the eight directions, and the central dome carries a golden kalasha. The Kamani Darwaza, a famous gate, is made of silver.
Panna is a city and municipality in Panna district. The Sant Prannath and Shri Baldev temples in the town are well known among pilgrims. The first Sharad Purnima Mahotsav program was held in 1740, and the festival is still held every October with the 108 Prananath Trust and the district administration.
