Why devotees come here
Mahadevi Mata Madhiya is a rock-form shrine in the forests of Dhimarkheda, Katni district, Madhya Pradesh. Devotees believe the rock grows taller every year, and pilgrims come to worship it here. A fair is held here each Basant Panchami on the banks of the Katla river.
Devotees worship Mahadevi Mata here in the form of a rock. Local belief says the rock is about 25 feet high now and that it grows taller every year. Earlier, the rock was only 5 to 6 feet high. Legend says that while the shrine was being built, a stream of milk and blood came out, and the work was stopped.
A small shrine was built here during British rule, at a place that is about 200 years old. The shrine stands in the middle of the forests of Dhimarkheda, in Dashraman village of Dhimarkheda tehsil. The Katni district administration lists the place under natural scenic beauty as well as religious sites.
Every year on Basant Panchami a fair is held at this place, which is built on the banks of the Katla river. Katni is in the central part of Madhya Pradesh, with its headquarters at Katni town.
