Mahudi Jain Temple is a pilgrimage centre for Jains and for other communities. The main shrine houses a 22-inch marble idol of Padmaprabhu, and a separate shrine is dedicated to Ghantakarna Mahavir, the protector deity. Devotees believe that the ringing of the temple bell protects the area from plagues. They also believe that people who attend the havan are cured of diseases.
The havan is held each year on Kali Chaudas, which falls on the fourteenth day of the dark half of Aso, and thousands of devotees come to take part in the ceremony. By custom, sukhdi bought within the temple campus must be eaten inside and cannot be taken outside.
The temple was established in 1917 by the Jain monk Buddhisagar Suri. Its foundation stone was laid in 1916 on land donated by Vadilal Kalidas Vora. The architecture blends elegance and simplicity, with intricate carvings that reflect Jain artistry and devotion. Mahudi is a town in Mansa taluka of Gandhinagar district, Gujarat. It sits on the banks of the Madhumati river, a tributary of the Sabarmati River. The temple lies about 75 km from Ahmedabad city. A Times of India report says devotees flock to the Jain derasar, or temple, here.
