The Nareli Jain Temple is an important place of pilgrimage for Digambar Jains. It stands on the Aravali range, on the outskirts of Ajmer. The complex is built as 24 small shrines, one for each of the 24 tirthankaras, and the whole is celebrated as a modern edifice.
Ashok Patni of RK Marbles had the temple built. It was his vision, carried out under the guidance of the Jain sage Muni Sudha Sagar. The cost was first estimated at about 50 crore rupees, but the work ended up costing close to 100 crore rupees. The style is a blend of traditional and contemporary architecture.
The complex also holds imposing idols of Arahnath, Kunthunath and Shantinath, each weighing around 24 tons. Mahavir Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahavira, is celebrated here in March or April. Paryushana, an annual holy event for Jains, falls in August or September.
