Why devotees come here
Ramrekha Dham is a pilgrimage site on Budha Pahad hill in Simdega district, Jharkhand. It is sanctified by Rama, Sita and Lakshmana, and it has a naturally formed bow-shaped cave with lines on its ceiling.
Shri Ramrekha Dham is a pilgrimage site on top of Budha Pahad, a hill 1,312 feet above sea level. It is sanctified by the presence of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana. The Dham is a major centre of faith, and devotees come here hoping their wishes will be fulfilled.
Legend says Rama, Sita and Lakshmana stayed here for nearly four months during their exile, in the rainy season. It is believed that Rama himself drew the lines engraved on the ceiling of the cave, and that these markings gave the place its name.
The main feature of the site is a naturally formed cave shaped like a bow. A grand fair is held here every year on Kartik Purnima and Magh Purnima. The Kartik Purnima fair has the status of a State Tourism Festival. Simdega, the district headquarters, lies in the south-western part of Jharkhand on the Netarhat-Ranchi plateau, among forests and hills.
