Why devotees come here
Salangpur Hanumanji Temple stands in Sarangpur village, Botad district, Gujarat, about 140 km from Ahmedabad. It is part of the Vadtal Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya, and Hanuman is worshipped here as Kashtabhanjan Dev, the crusher of sorrows.
Legend says Gopalanand Swami touched the idol with a rod, and it came alive and moved. Devotees believe that a look at this image drives evil spirits out of people affected by them. The temple belongs to the Vadtal Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya, and its Hanuman is worshipped as Kashtabhanjan Dev.
Gopalanand Swami installed the idol, and the temple's history page records its consecration in Samvat 1905, on the fifth day of the dark half of Aso. Later, Shastriji Maharaj renovated the temple, built the adjacent bungalow and bought more land to expand the complex. The Hanuman idol is a stout figure with a handlebar moustache, with Shani Dev under his foot. On 6 April 2023, then home minister Amit Shah unveiled a 54-feet tall metal statue of Hanuman here.
