Why devotees come here
Sarangpur Hanuman Temple is in Sarangpur village, Botad district, Gujarat. Hanuman is worshipped here as Kashtbhanjan Dev, the crusher of sorrows. It is the only Swaminarayan temple whose main deity is neither Swaminarayan nor Krishna.
The temple is dedicated to Hanuman as Kashtbhanjan, the crusher of sorrows. A legend says that when Sadguru Gopalanand Swami installed the idol, he touched it with a rod, and the idol came alive and moved. The story is told as a legend, not as proven history.
Sadguru Gopalanand Swami consecrated the idol in Samvat 1905. The village is also spelled Salangpur. It lies in Botad district, Gujarat, about 153 km from Ahmedabad. Its yearly anniversary, Patotsav, falls on Aso Vad fifth and is marked with grand decoration, annakut and puja. The Bhojanalay serves free meals three times a day. The temple is run by Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Vadtal Dham. Every year thousands of devotees gather here to celebrate Holi, the festival of colours.
