Why devotees come here
Satsang Ashram, in Deoghar district of Jharkhand, is the headquarters of the Satsang movement. Its founder, Thakur Anukulchandra, is revered by the devotees who visit the ashram. The ashram is one of the largest religious establishments he founded, and it is a holy place for his devotees.
The ashram lies in the south-west of Deoghar and is a holy place for devotees of Thakur Anukulchandra. It is one of the largest religious establishments he founded, and the headquarters of the Satsang lineage that he started. The township around it is known as Satsang Nagar. The ashram runs a charitable hospital that gives free health services to the public throughout the year.
The history of the ashram begins on 2 September 1946. On that day Thakur Anukulchandra left his birthplace in Pabna District, East Bengal (today Bangladesh), and settled in Deoghar. The Satsang Ashram was started there after that move. Later, a two-day function marked his 128th birth anniversary, and the governor of Jharkhand inaugurated it. The ashram's free kitchen, Anandabazar, was introduced by his mother, Monmohini Devi.
Along with Thakur Anukulchandra himself, the ashram honours the birth anniversaries of his wife, Sree Sree Boromaa, his eldest son, Sree Sree Borda, and the present Acharyadev.
