Why devotees come here
Shri Saibaba Temple stands in the heart of Pathri town, Parbhani district, Maharashtra. It is known as the Sai Baba Birth Temple, and it is built on the site of Sai Baba's house.
Pathri is one of the nine tehsils of Parbhani district. Devotees believe that Sai Baba of Shirdi was born here, and that is why the temple is called the Sai Baba Birth Temple. The claim is disputed, and no reliable accepted proof has been found, so the debate continues. The Shirdi Saibaba temple trust and local residents opposed the claim.
In the 1970s a field research claimed that Sai Baba was born in Pathri village. A Sai memorial committee was then formed in the town. The committee bought land on the site of Sai Baba's house and started building the temple there in 1994. The temple was opened to the public in 1999.
The town itself has older remains. Ruins of a fort still stand in Pathri, and the town is the place of many Muslim saints and Sufis. Pathri is a municipal council in Parbhani district, and it is a town near the city of Parbhani.
