Why devotees come here
Sree Kalabhairava Swamy Temple stands in Isannapally village, Ramareddy mandal, Kamareddy district, Telangana. The district government describes it as the only Kalabhairava Swamy temple in South India after the Kashi kshetra. The idol is in an unusual undressed form.
Sree Kalabhairava Swamy Temple is the only Kalabhairava Swamy temple in South India after the Kashi kshetra. Devotees come from two Telugu states, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra to see the idol, which is in an unusual undressed form. Devotees also come for relief from family problems, health issues and troubles linked to sorcery.
Local belief holds that the idol was brought from Kasi, the Varanasi shrine. The bullock carts carrying it stopped at Isannapally, and the idol was set up there. No firm evidence records when the temple was built. Its special festivals include Brahmotsavalu in Vaisakha month and Santatabhisekham in Margasira month.
On Karthika bahulashtami, the day of the Kalabhairava Swamy jayanthi, the temple draws a large crowd of devotees from across Telangana. Brahmotsavalu in Vaisakha and Santatabhisekham in Margasira are the other special festivals.
