Tekdi Ganesh Temple is a shrine to Ganesha, and the statue wears gold and silver ornaments. The temple is said to be the most famous in Nagpur and one of the city's self-manifested temples, meaning it is believed to have arisen on its own.
The shrine is recorded as having more than 250 years of history, but its founding date is not settled. It began as a modest tin-roofed structure with a small platform. In 1970 the Military Defence Wing took charge and began renovations. Construction of the Ganapati temple started in 1978, with contributions from devotees and additional land from the Ministry of Defence.
The temple stands on a hill along Station Road. The area around the hill, now known as Sitabuldi, is an important commercial hub for Nagpur.
