Why devotees come here
Treta Ke Thakur Mandir stands in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and is dedicated to Rama. It is also known as Ram Janmabhoomi. Its domed complex mixes Hindu and Islamic styles, with red sandstone walls.
Treta Ke Thakur Mandir is linked to the Treta Yuga, the second of the four ages in Hindu mythology. This is the age in which Rama first appeared on Earth. Inside the inner sanctum, Rama's statue stands beside those of Sita and Lakshmana. The temple is also known as Ram Janmabhoomi, the birthplace of Rama, and many believe it stands near the spot where he was actually born.
The temple is credited to King Vikramaditya, and Queen Ahilyabai Holkar revived it. Renovations took place over time, and the current form dates back to the 16th century. The complex mixes Hindu and Islamic styles, with raised platforms, domed pavilions and carvings. Four domed pavilions enclose the main shrine, and fine calligraphy decorates them. Red sandstone walls are adorned with images of Hindu deities. A golden finial crowns the central dome.
