Why devotees come here
Ram Mandir stands in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and is one of the most visited Hindu temples in India. Ayodhya is a city on the banks of the Saryu river and the headquarters of Ayodhya district. The presiding deity is the infant form of Rama, called Ram Lalla.
Many Hindus believe this site is the mythical birthplace of Rama, known as Ram Janmabhoomi. According to the Hindu epic Ramayana, Rama was born in the mythical Ayodhya, on the banks of the Sarayu river. Ayodhya is regarded as one of the seven most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the groundbreaking ceremony in August 2020. He performed the consecration on 22 January 2024. Construction was formally completed on 25 November 2025, with a flag-hoisting event called Ram Mandir Dhwajarohan.
The planned temple is 250 feet wide, 380 feet long and 161 feet high. It follows the Maru-Gurjara style of Nagara architecture. The main structure stands on a raised platform with three storeys and has 366 columns. No iron or steel was used in the construction.
