Why devotees come here
Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple stands on a hillock in Yadagirigutta, in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, Telangana. It is dedicated to Narasimha, an avatar of Vishnu, and is touted as Telangana's own Tirupati.
Legend says the sage Yadarishi, son of Rishyasrunga, did penance in a cave on this hill with the blessing of Anjaneya, or Hanuman. Another legend, in the Skanda Purana, tells of Yada, who performed penance here and pleased Narasimha. Narasimha is said to have manifested in five forms, which came to be worshipped as finely sculpted images, known together as Pancha Narasimha Kshetram.
The temple was expanded and rebuilt between 2016 and March 2022. The new temple was inaugurated on 28 March 2022 by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Its architecture follows the Agama Shastra, and it is built entirely in stone.
The sanctum is in a cave under a huge rock that covers half the temple. Seven gopurams have wooden roofs. The pillars of the 12 Alvars, the poet-saints of Sri Vaishnavism, stand in the main temple.
