Why devotees come here
Fullara is a temple town in Labpur block of Birbhum district, West Bengal, and one of the 51 Shakta pithas. Its sanctum has no idol, only a large stone, the symbol of Devi Sati, which is worshipped instead. The nearest town, Bolpur Shantiniketan, is about 30 km away.
Fullara is one of the 51 Shakta pithas. The legend says that when Mahadeva danced with Sati's dead body and cut it into pieces, her lower lip fell here. The sanctum has no image or idol. A large stone, the symbol of Devi Sati, is worshipped there instead.
The temple lies in Labpur block of Bolpur subdivision, Birbhum district. Labhpur, a census town in the same block, is situated near it. It is about 30 km from Bolpur Shantiniketan, its nearest town. Local hearsay says Hanuman gathered 108 blue lotuses from the pond when Shri Rama needed them for the worship of Devi Durga. Treat that as a local tale, not a settled fact.
A 10-day fair is organized near the temple during Magh Purnima.
