Why devotees come here
The Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir stands in the heart of Chittaranjan Park, a Bengali neighbourhood in South Delhi. Its grand Kali temple was consecrated in February 1984 in the Bengal terracotta style.
Residents of Chittaranjan Park formed the Kali Mandir Society on 4 March 1973. The temple has served the community since 1973. It is counted among Delhi's most revered Bengali temples. Its three main shrines are for Devi Kali, the presiding deity, along with Shiva and Radha-Krishna.
The first temple was a small Shiva shrine on a hill at the edge of the new colony, set up in 1973. The grand Kali temple was consecrated in February 1984 in the traditional Bengal terracotta style. Between 2006 and 2009, terracotta overlays were added to the outside of the temple.
The temple stands in the heart of one of South Delhi's most well-known residential neighbourhoods. Durga Puja, a five-day festival from Shashthi to Dashami, brings pandals, dhak drummers and an immersion procession.
