Why devotees come here
Chhatarpur Temple, also called Shri Aadya Katyayani Shakti Peeth, stands on the southwestern outskirts of New Delhi. It is dedicated to Katyayani and is the second largest temple in Delhi, after Akshardham. Its white marble complex covers 60 acres.
Katyayani is one of the nine forms of Durga, who is part of Navadurga. The temple is also one of the largest places of worship in India, second only to Akshardham. It stands on the southwestern outskirts of New Delhi. Its full name is Shri Aadya Katyayani Shakti Peeth.
Baba Sant Nagpal ji established the temple in 1974, and he died in 1998. The complex is built in an intricate, South Indian style from white marble. It covers 24 hectares, or 60 acres, and has more than 20 temples in three complexes. Inside, one room has tables and chairs made of silver.
The complex stands in Mehrauli, in South Delhi, and has long been a popular temple there. The Katyayani shrine opens only during the bi-annual Navratri season, when thousands of people come for darshan. At other times of the year, the shrine is closed.
