Why devotees come here
Dwarkadhish Temple stands on the southern bank of Rajsamand Lake in Kankroli, Rajsamand district, Rajasthan. It is the third peeth of the Shuddhadvaita Pushtimarg sect, founded by Jagadguru Vallabhacharya.
Dwarkadhish Ji is the third peeth of the Shuddhadvaita Pushtimarg, the sect founded by Jagadguru Vallabhacharya. The deity is one of the seven swaroops of Pushtimarg. Legend says the image was worshipped by a series of sages and Hindu mythological figures before the family of Vallabha took it up.
Fearing danger to the deity, Goswami Girdharji took it from Gokul to Ahmedabad. Maharana Raj Singh granted the village of Asotiya for the temple, and the first temple was built there. After Rajsamand Lake was built, heavy rain flooded the Asotiya temple and left it on an islet. Maharajkumar Amar Singh allocated the high ground of Darikhana and Haveli for the new temple. Kankroli was once a jagir of 21 villages in the erstwhile Mewar state, granted free to the Gosain of the Dwarkadhish ji Temple.
The temple is built in the haveli style, and its shikhar, or tower, is decorated with many sculptures. It can be seen from a long distance. The lush greenery around it adds to its beauty, and the temple sits on the high bank of the lake.
