Garh Ganesh Temple attracts a significant number of devotees, especially during Ganesh Chaturthi. Wednesdays are considered sacred for Ganesha worshippers. Anna-koot falls on the first Wednesday after Diwali, and Paush Bade on the last Wednesday of the Paush month. The temple is built on a slope of the Aravalli Hills, in the style of a hill temple, and it is dedicated to Ganesha.
Legend says Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II dreamt that Ganesha asked him to bring his idol down from the hills and build a temple. The founding is also linked to the completion of an Ashvamedha Yagya, a Vedic ritual.
The temple was built in the 18th century by Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. Its main structure is made of pink sandstone, a feature of Jaipur's architecture. It follows the Nagara style of North Indian temples.
