Jakhu Temple is dedicated to Hanuman, the Hindu deity. It sits on Jakhu Hill, the highest peak in Shimla, about 2.5 km east of the Ridge. The 2 km walk up from the Ridge takes 30 to 45 minutes and offers scenic views. Ponies are also available for those who prefer not to walk.
A giant 108-foot Hanuman idol was unveiled at the temple on 4 November 2010. The temple is known for this statue, which is described as the world's largest statue of Hanuman.
An annual festival is held on Dussehra every year. Before 1972 the festival was held at Annadale. A short distance from the temple, Jakhoo Hill is a nice walk for those who have time to spare.
