Why devotees come here
Kondagattu Anjaneya Temple is a Hanuman shrine on a hill near Muthyumpeta village in Jagtial district, Telangana. It is one of the state's most visited Hanuman shrines and one of its highest revenue-generating Hindu temples. The shrine is best known for its annual Pedda Hanuman Jayanti and Chinna Hanuman Jayanti celebrations.
Devotees believe that Anjaneya manifested himself on this hill, which is why the shrine matters to people who seek strength, protection and relief from hardships. Local tradition says the temple has been a centre of Hanuman worship for several centuries. The shrine is especially busy when Hanuman Jayanti falls.
The State government has sanctioned funds for the development of the temple under the Chief Minister's Special Development Fund. An architect who worked on the Yadadri temple has been tasked with the revamp. Plans say the renovation will follow Agama Sastra, in line with the Yadadri temple. The Chief Minister has also proposed a 108-foot Anjaneya idol on the hillock, but it is not built yet.
During Hanuman Jayanti the temple runs homas, Snapana Thirumanjanam, special abhishekams and Oonjal Seva as part of the programme.
