Komuravelli Mallanna Temple stands on a hill in Komuravelli village, in Siddipet district of Telangana. The deity here is Mallanna, a form of Shiva also called Mallikarjuna Swamy. Maharashtrian people also call the deity Khandoba. The main temple houses Mallanna with his consorts, Golla Kethamma and Medallamma.
Legend says Mallanna married Medallamma after facing conditions set by her brothers. Medallamma is also called Bramarambika. The story has no written script. It is sung as Oggu Katha. A recent TV show depicted Mallanna as resembling Marthand or Khandoba, an incarnation of Shiva.
Devotees throng the temple on Maha Shivaratri, when the Pedda Patnam is celebrated. The Mallanna Jatara is a season rather than a single day, and it begins at Sankranti and lasts till Ugadi. Large numbers of devotees offer prayers on all Sundays in this period. The Agni Gundaalu is held on the Sunday before Ugadi.
