Why devotees come here
Santhana Venugopala Swamy Temple stands in the village of Chinoor in Nagireddy Pet mandal, Kamareddy district, Telangana. The main idol is Venugopal Swamy, shown with Rukmini and Satyabhama. The Agama Sastras describe its worship and festivals as a delight to the eyes.
Legend says that about 700 years ago, a king who ruled the region under the Nizam kings had a dream. In the dream, a holy figure appeared in the pool. The next day the king sent his army to search the pool, and they found a two and a half foot idol of Venu Gopala Swami, with Rukmini and Satyabhama.
The king then built a temple and installed the idols of Swami, along with those of Nammalvar and Ramanuja. Local mythology adds that the idols of Sudarshan Perumal and Srimannarayana were found together with the Swami idols.
Devotees believe that whoever worships the Swami here will be blessed with good offspring. Those who take part in the Swami's marriage ceremony believe their wishes will be granted. The Agama Sastras describe the worship and the special festival activities as very beautiful, and the district lists the temple under historic and religious sites.
