The square sanctum of the temple holds a standing statue of Yagya Varah, carved in the 11th century. Varaha is the boar form of Vishnu, and this statue is huge. An Adi Narayan statue rests in front of the Varaha statue.
The temple was built in the 11th century and later destroyed. It was rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries. Its shikhara, the tower over the sanctum, is not in its original form.
