Why devotees come here
The Prasanna Venkateswara Temple is a Vaishnavite temple at Appalayagunta in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. It is dedicated to Venkateswara, known here as Prasanna Venkateswara, and sits 16 km from Tirupati. Its presiding deity has its right hand in abhaya posture, unlike other typical Venkateswara temples.
Legend says Venkateswara graced a gathering of Siddheswara and other sages here, on the occasion of his marriage. The temple's rituals follow the tenets of the Vaikhanasa Agama. The presiding deity holds its right hand in abhaya posture, unlike other typical Venkateswara temples.
King Venkata Perumalaraju Brahmadeva of Karvetinagaram had the temple constructed in 1232 AD. The temple has been managed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams since 1988. Idols of Padmavathi and Andal are inside the temple. A shrine of Anjaneya stands opposite the temple.
The temple stands in Tirupati district, which covers 8827 square kilometres, about 5.05 percent of Andhra Pradesh's area. Tirupati lies at the foot of the Seshachalam Hills of the Eastern Ghats. Inside the temple is a shrine of Vayu, the wind deity, which is one of its important features.
