Why devotees come here
Bagdana is a village in Mahuva taluka of Bhavnagar district, Gujarat. It is a major pilgrim place for followers of the saint Bajrangdas Bapa. A hut once dedicated to him has grown into an ashram.
Bagdana lies in Mahuva taluka, in Bhavnagar district. Mahuva itself is in the coastal Saurashtra region, on the Gulf of Khambhat. Followers of the saint Bajrangdas Bapa treat the village, its rivers and their meeting point, the Bagdeshwar temple, Bapa's hermitage and the ashram as sacred. Three major melas, or fairs, are held here every year, on Bapa's death anniversary, Bhadrapad Amavasya and Guru Purnima. The first place of worship was a hut dedicated to Bapa. It has since been expanded into an ashram.
The village has an ancient Shiva shrine too, Bagadeshwar Mahadev, beside the Gangajalia Kund. Legend says the Saraswati river rises beneath a self-manifested linga inside that temple.
Mahuva is often called the Kashmir of Saurashtra because of its temperate climate. The Great Trigonometrical Survey station on Ghebar hill stood close to the village of Bagdana.
