Why devotees come here
Kaleshwaram is a village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, Telangana, where the Godavari meets its Pranahita tributary. The temple's two lingas, named Shiva and Yama, sit on a single pedestal. It is one of three Shiva temples named in Trilinga Desham, the Land of Three Lingas.
Shiva is worshipped here in two lingas on one pedestal. They are named Shiva and Yama, and together they are known as Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy. Kaleshwaram is one of three Shiva temples named in Trilinga Desham, the Land of Three Lingas. The village lies in Mahadevpur mandal, where the two rivers meet. The district headquarters are at Bhupalpally. Manthani is 60 km away and Parkal is 75 km. The temple is 277 km from Hyderabad.
Legend says a Vaishya once bathed the lingas with milk from hundreds of pots. The milk is believed to have formed the meeting of the Godavari and Pranahita rivers. The place is often called the Dakshina Triveni Sangamam for that confluence.
In 2018 a Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari temple opened near the main Shiva temple. Thousands of devotees come during Maha Shivaratri, when grand Abhishekams and Rudrabhishekam are held.
