Why devotees come here
Ram Lakhan Tungri is a historic and religious site in Kumhari village, Chas block, Bokaro district, Jharkhand. Devotees believe Shri Ram's footprints are on the small hill, which the district page calls Ram Lakhan Dugri.
The Bokaro district government lists Ram Lakhan Tungri as a historic and religious place, and as a category D local tourist destination. The district page says Shri Ram and Mother Sita spent some time here during their 14 years of exile in Treta Yug.
One legend tells of Shri Ram going out in search of a golden deer at Sita's insistence. Another tells of a shepherd whose mischief turned a stream of milk into water, and a pond now sits where that happened. Devotees believe Shri Ram's footprints are on the small hill, which the page calls Ram Lakhan Dugri at Kasmar.
Ram Navami is celebrated here in a grand manner, because the place is linked with Shri Ram. The site sits in Kumhari village, Chas block, in Bokaro district. The Hindi version of the district page also says Shri Ram spent time in the forests of Jharkhand during his exile, and that many places there are linked with him.
