Why devotees come here
ISKCON Vrindavan, also called Krishna Balaram Mandir, is one of the major ISKCON temples in the world. It stands in the city of Vrindavan, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, and is dedicated to Krishna and Balarama. Its altars also honour Radha Shyamsundar and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
The temple is dedicated to Krishna and Balarama. Its founder, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, inaugurated it and installed its deities on Ram Navami, 20 April 1975. Other deities here include Radha Krishna and Gauranga Nityananda.
Inside, the central altar holds Krishna and Balarama. The right altar has Radha Shyamsundar with the gopis Lalita and Vishakha. The left altar has Chaitanya Mahaprabhu with Nityananda, and Prabhupada with his guru, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, so the founder is shown beside his own teacher.
At the entrance to the complex stands the samadhi mandir of Prabhupada, a mausoleum built of white marble. The temple keeps the festivals of Krishna, Radha and Balarama, including Janmashtami, Radhashtami and Balarama Purnima. It also keeps Gopashtami, a festival of Krishna's pastimes with cows.
