Why devotees come here
Prem Mandir is a white marble temple in Vrindavan, Mathura district, in western Uttar Pradesh. Its shrines are dedicated to Radha Krishna and Sita Ram. Kripalu Maharaj established the temple, and the complex was inaugurated in 2012.
Prem Mandir stands on the outskirts of Vrindavan in Mathura district. Devotees of Krishna and Radha regard it as a place of deep spiritual importance. President Droupadi Murmu visited the temple and performed aarti during a visit to Uttar Pradesh.
Kripalu Maharaj established the temple. Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj laid the foundation stone on 14 January 2001. Construction took around 12 years with about 1000 artisans. The inauguration ran from 15 to 17 February 2012, and the temple opened to the public on 17 February. The cost was 150 crore rupees.
The complex covers a 22-hectare (55-acre) site, with gardens, fountains and life-size scenes from the leelas of Shri Krishna. The temple is built entirely of white marble, and Radha Krishna is shown on the first level with Sita Ram on the second. Beside it, a pillar-less, dome-shaped satsang hall of 6,800 square metres holds 25,000 people at a time. The grounds also have life-size statues and paintings of Krishna, Radha and other legendary characters.
